Opinion Piece Grades Published Monday 28th Feb
Your opinion pieces grades will go live on Monday. This means you will be able to see your grade and feedback by clicking on the turn-it-in icon and clicking on the "grade mark" icon (or indeed your grade) within the turn-it-in environment. Grades are from 1-20 and details of the grading system can be found here http://www.24-7.mdx.ac.uk/assess/results.htm#scales Grades are provisional pending the examination board in the summer (June). Please note these grades do not account for failing your reading diaries. If you did less than 5 reading diaries on time your grade will be the average of this one and 17. If you did no reading diaries at all your grade for this component will be 19. The full grade for assessment 1 (opinion piece + reading diary) will be available in due course. All the best,
Ben
Naming Pages
PLEASE EVERYONE MAKE SURE THAT YOU GIVE YOUR PAGE NAMES A UNIQUE URL. The best way to do this is to add your group name to every link you make for your group. You can tell if a pagename/URL is unique as when you click the link button it will say "page exists" or "page does not exist". You want it to say "page does not exist".
Image Rights
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO USE IMAGES ON THIS SITE. THIS MEANS YOU MUST EITHER HAVE PERMISSION FROM THE AUTHOR, OR BE CERTAIN THAT ITEM WAS RELEASED UNDER AN APPROPRIATE LICENSE. SEE HERE FOR MORE DETAILS: http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Community_Central:Licensing
Make sure you only use images released under a creative commons license. Then make sure you link to the original place you found the image either in the images unique file page or where it appears on the wiki proper. If in doubt - do not use an image.
News and Announcements
Tar Sands Campaign recruiting
People & Planet is organising a youth solidarity exchange between UK students and young people from the Beaver Lake Cree Nation. Up to 10 students from universities and FE colleges will travel to Northern Alberta this summer to see the tar sands firsthand. On their return to the UK, students will develop and launch a new international campaign to shut the project down, in solidarity with the Beaver Lake Cree.
Welcome to the Wiki
Welcome to the MCS1000 wiki. Wikis are websites that anyone can edit. This is the tool that we will be using to manage the campaigns for the second half of the module. It will be a central repository for all the information about your campaign, your weekly minutes, your research and your promotional materials.
As well as being a great resource and organisational tool, it will also form the appendix to your assessment providing a one stop shop for your tutor to see the supporting evidence for your campaign report.
To get started find a link to your tutors name, then to your seminar group and start a new page there.
If you need any help with using the wiki please check the help pages, before contacting your seminar tutor.
